Growing up I worked in an auto garage where I built my first functioning engine at the age of 16. I found it very rewarding to take something broken, fix it, improve it and give it a new lease on life.

 

My first job as an apparel designer was short, lived however it motivated me to be better. To do this, I wanted to understand the inner workings of the department functions so I immersed myself from the beginning of the product lifecycle to the end. Starting as a design

assistant, I soaked up all the knowledge and worked my way through various roles including pattern maker, pattern grader and eventually product developer and tech designer. After learning the technical aspects, I pivoted to the creative side where I rounded out my hands-on design skill sets working as an assistant designer and textile designer.

As a designer I partnered with merchandising, sales, retail, planning and production to bring the most successful product to market. This led to my first leadership role as Director of Design and Merchandising, giving me a platform to focus on growth planning and strategy execution.

My journey and entrepreneurial spirit gave me a unique perspective and well-rounded skill set. In 2008, we found ourselves in a recession and markets were fragmented. This inspired me to write my first business plan which became the foundation of Veram.

With our years of experience, we've been through many difficult situations in this industry and have come out the other side stronger and with valuable lessons learned.
